Welcome to the traditional Identity Crisis. This is version 9 of this crisis, as this is the 9th event. Breaking tradition this time, again, to come up with a solution that hopefully results in a number of very nice name suggestions.

Conclusion

The acronym and expansion for the next Dutch hacker camp is: MCH2021, May Contain Hackers. (Now quickly register ALL those typosquats and weird TLDs...)

How: The PL undemocratically decided the acronym and name. Every PL member created a top list of their best entries from the complete entries. The recomendation was for 5 names, not everyone got there due to personal style and taste. The choices where written down and weighted. The number 1 choice per person was 10 points, the 2nd was 8 points and so on with 6, 4, and 2. The top 3 was briefly discussed. Everyone could get behind "May Contain Hackers". And thus it was decided. From the votes you can already see some indication.

IDENTITY CRISIS V9 [how can i hold all this identity]
Challenge Every major Dutch hacker event has had a new acronym and name. These where of varying quality. This name was traditionally decided by a "cabal". SHA2017 broke the mode with the result of a lot of time spent on discussion and names. It became a meme. To keep the orga focussed, a hybrid solution is proposed that allows freedom, community input and a fixed deadline.
The Process Today: Describe expected outcomes and success criteria. Today: Voting on what will be created. What will be voted on will become largely the identity of the next event. 15/16th of November: Projectleiding reviews entries and undemocratically decides Beginning of December: first batch of promo stuff is made to drop the new thing If all fails, it will be SHA2021, Copy Paste Improve

Expectations far exceed just an acronym and name (we can generate those by the thousands). Expectations include a context, deeper meaning and mood board as well. All of this to better make the undemocratic reviewers understand why the proposed identity matches the event and hacker culture. See the presentation below for examples.
