** I am not quite sure where you saw those "consumers", especially since that would be quite a high entry price for a consumer (no daytickets and all). As far as I know we didn't finish selling all tickets so it was smaller then expected even. Although I do understand that you are longing for a smaller sized event (there are definitely a couple of those out there), I dearly hope that this event will even grow, since it is quite nice to have more and new people being interested and learning more. Sponsors I am unsure about, since I do know they were a big help in financing the whole event. With the point of being to burned out, that might be a problem of scheduling and volunteering, since there were around ~400 volunteers for the whole event (officially).

* I was surprised twice that empty places in the field were apparently claimed. It was not clear to me that people had staked out places already on the wiki. This would seem to me one of The Most Important Things To Tell People: "whatever is on the wiki wins". Or perhaps abolish that, also fine by me, but in any case be very clear about it. * The badge is amazing! However, I feel bad that my badges from previous events barely got used and this one is likely to suffer the same fate. For environmental/cost reasons, I kinda wish I could have opted out. * Really love the badge, it inspired me to try micropython for the first time. Also I find it to be a piece of art, the PCB design is just great. On the other side, I'm also sceptical on the ecological aspects. I fear that many hackers will not use it anymore after the event or even never use it at all. * The capacity of the food-stands was quite low, which resulted in long waiting times. Not good with hungry kids. [[User:Fhp|Fhp]] ([[User talk:Fhp|talk]])
* Agree with above: low capacity for the commercial food stands. They also didn't seem to grasp the concept of 'lunch'. I expected them to be up and running around 13.00, but most of them weren't, resulting in even longer lines at the places that were open earlier. -- [[User:Dany|Dany]] ([[User talk:Dany|talk]])

* The Johny Cash Burger was great but mostly I fed on waffles by the awesome C3WOC <3. And of course one can rely on the Italian Hackers' Embassy for excellent pasta. * This is a matter of taste - if you light up the speakers real well, the audience can enjoy a well lighted speaker. But the speaker then often can't see the audience. * Payment by card worked mostly well, other than the supermarket not accepting international cards. My main issue was that the payment system was not well enough explained before the actual event! The blog post and wiki page were pretty long and still left me confused about what the actual payment system on the field was going to end up being. ** yeah communication could have been better, the main problem was that most of it was arranged by one single person (never a good idea). Next time we need to find more people who work on the financial/tickets stuff.
* I liked the idea of the cashless QR-code, especially the later upgrade to a "hard card" rather than just a stub of thermal paper. Avoids using the big payment providers and frees one of having to carry around cash. * As a foreigner visiting, I was VERY happy that I could use my card to tap and pay almost everywhere. Get the supermarket on board next time and you get a perfect score from me! * The infodesk should've been open for longer/as long as possible. === Lounges ===

* Silent lounge was very well done. Nicely decorated and people behaving very considerate (i.e. really tried to be silent). No wonder that it was popular to the point where it could've used more pillows. I was worried that people would start camping inside the lounge (similar things happen at congress for example), but that didn't turn out to be true. I've seen plenty of people taking a nap away from the noise of the event, but thankfully nobody started living inside the lounge. -- [[User:Rot13|Rot13]] ([[User talk:Rot13|talk]])
* Besides the silent lounge, I wish there were more places for people, especially for those without a village, to relax in the shade near an Ethernet port and power socket. In the harbour there was the wood table with tent roof and the bar with a couple of seats, but both away from power sockets. Besides that a few deckchairs. ** +1 I was going to write the same. Seating on the western part of the food court was hardly used because there was no shadow. Everyone was cramped beneath the roof tent in front of the east bar. On previous events there were more public spaces with roofing, sofas, bean bags, power and network. Nice place with hammocks at the speaker desk but also now shadow. Roof tents would also provide shelter in case of rain (as experienced on previous camps).

=== Merchandise ===

* The designs look great, I'm a fan of the asymmetry and the patterned sleeves. Not being able to go a size up or down from what you ordered online was kind of disappointing. Not a major issue for myself but I know of several people who were sad about this. = Family Zone =

At MCH2022 you’ll be camping, visiting the other villages, meeting people, enjoying the food from the food trucks, the drinks from the bar and perhaps a refreshing swim in the harbour or the beach. Additionally, a full conference programme is offered with various topics like information security, surveillance and/or anti-surveillance, free software, art and much more. These talks and workshops are presented in large tents all around the area.

All of this sounds very nice, and would be very interesting to you, but what about your family? Instead of dumping them in the pancake village and having to roll them back home at the end of the event, let us introduce you to the Family Zone: A field that is dedicated to families with kids, containing a sand pit, ball pit, bouncy castles, kid workshops and even childcare!

On this field, you can camp with your family. It will be the quietest field in the entire campground (until 07:00, when it might become the loudest field…). Your kids can play with all the other kids and the entire atmosphere is very friendly and helpful.

MCH2022 is a community driven event, and so is Family Zone. Got a great idea that will make Family Zone the best place for you and your young ones? Let’s make it happen! For example: at the last event (SHA2017), one parent brought up the idea of “Inflatable Fun Land” which turned out to be an enormous success and these inflatable animals are currently still being played with by kids all over Europe.

= Child Safety =

Child safety is extremely important. Here are some tips specific to MCH2022.

=== Kids during build up ===
* During build up and tear down, kids <12 are not allowed on the field.
* Kids age 12 and over can help out, but need to wear a hi-vis at ALL TIMES when they are outside their own tent. So even during non-working hours.
* During build up and tear down kids have to be under close adult supervision.
* If your kid doesn't want to help, you can go to the designated safe area (by team:terrain), where there is no heavy machinery.
* If you fail to comply with these rules, you will be asked to leave the terrain and come back on or after day -1.
* Kids (all ages) are welcome from day -1 (21 July 12:00) until 27 July 12:00.

=== During MCH2022 ===
* Get a child-bracelet at the infotent or the family village to write your phone number. If you don't want to attach a bracelet to your kid, a permanent marker also works.
* Take a recent picture of your kid(s) and have it standby. Obviously, we all have a million pictures of our children, but if your kid is missing, having this picture standby saves valuable time.
* First aid can be contacted through the safety central post via DECT: 2222 or +31 622005297, they will come to you for small and big situations (they have a full medical team on-site). Basic first aid kits are also available at the FamilyZone tents if you are looking for a band-aid with a nice picture.
* Small children should not be left unattended. If they are found without a parent/guardian, the missing parent/guardian scenario is initiated to find you. Also, FamilyZone is not a day care.
* Keep a very close watch around the water. Especially the canal (Nuldernauw) is very cold, has strong currents and heavy traffic. So use the pond at Flowers field, but always keep a very close watch on your children. You can borrow floaties at the FamilyZone and the harbour. Note: a flotation device is NOT a substitute for actually watching your children.

==== The Harbour ====
The harbour is a great place to be, but has additional rules. Regarding children the most important rules are:
* Children up to 12 years are not allowed to play or be alone in the harbour and the surrounding area (up to half of the Hopperfield).
* Watch your children since water is dangerous, and can even be dangerous for kids who can swim.

=== In addition to the child safety measures ===
FamilyZone is not a day care. Do not leave your child unattended.

There will be water and lemonade, but food is not provided so please bring your own food for your children. There is a refrigerator where you can keep your baby food. Please note: this refrigerator is ONLY for baby food etc. For your own food, you can obviously bring your own or use the food trucks (they're going to be awesome!).

We hope to have great weather! But remember that your child needs special care when it's warm and sunny, since they will be outside most of the day. So make sure you use a water-resistant sunscreen with a high spf, reapply it often, and provide fresh fruits and food for your child. We'll make sure there is plenty to drink.

Since children and their caretakers need their rest, the Turing field must be quiet after 21.00.

In previous events we were known as the <s>Family Village</s>, but this also caused confusion about the status of Team Family.
