Tickets are not on sale yet, and the pricing structure has not yet been decided on.

We have a rough estimate what the event will cost, but due to the covid-19 situation we don't have all the details just yet. We expect it will be in the 250-350 euro range for an adult ticket. There will be separate tickets for children.

Gift cards

Just before the covid-19 situation, we came up with the idea to have a form of crowdfunding that lets participants buy part of their ticket without paying the full price at once, while still having a guaranteed ticket. At the same time, this would provide us with some additional cash flow for early expenses. The "real" ticket sales will start in December 2020 as is common for the Dutch events, but we will communicate that well in advance and explain all the procedures.

This weekend we had the MCH2021 volunteer field weekend (please check the wiki if you want to join any of the teams!) and we finished the setup of Pretix, the ticket shop system. Pretix has the option to sell gift cards, which is the same as any gift card you can buy elsewhere (e.g. an Amazon gift card). Our gift cards can be redeemed for any product in the ticket shop when the sales start.

We opened the ticket shop at and intentionally gave the link to a small group of people, with the plan to write some explanation later. Seems everyone (just like we are!) is looking forward to MCH2021 next year, and is already buying gift cards! Since this "problem" raises some questions, we are writing this to hopefully answer them. If you still have a question that isn't answered, feel free to reach out by e-mail at .

What is a gift card?

Pretix, the ticket shop software, has the option to sell gift cards (similar to an Amazon gift card). This creates a code that can be used as part of the payment for a future order. Typically you would give a gift card away (you can of course still do that), but in this case you will probably keep it for yourself.

An example how this will work when the ticket sales start, you buy (fictional prices):

  • 2 tickets at 300 euro per ticket
  • 2 t-shirts at 25 euro per t-shirt
  • 1 KarTent for 50 euro
  • 1 parking ticket for 42 euro

The total price would be 742 euro. If you have bought a 100 euro gift card, you can enter the code during the payment process and this will be deducted from the total amount. The rest of the amount (642 euro in this example) will have to be paid through any other payment option.

What is an anonymous donation?

The IFCAT foundation (the legal vehicle for the event) would like to keep the ticket price as low as possible. To that end we asking people that can afford it to give a small donation that we hope will contribute to this cause.

Does a gift card guarantee the right to buy a ticket?

Yes, it does. For every gift card that is sold, we reserve a ticket so you have the right to buy one when the ticket sale opens!

What if I can't afford it right now?

No worries! We understand that a lot of people are in a tricky situation financially right now. While a gift card guarantees you a ticket when ticket sales start, we don't expect them to sell out that fast.

There should be plenty of time to obtain a ticket, and in the worst case you can always contact and we can work something out.

Are gift cards refundable?

  • Normally, they are not, this is just too much of an administrative burden. You can however sell it to someone else in the community.
  • If the camp can't continue due to the pandemic, all gift cards will be refunded.
  • If the event continues but you can't come, e.g. because of a local lockdown, please talk to us, since we will have to take this on a case-by-case basis.

How can I pay?

For gift card sales, we support the following payment methods:

  • Bank transfer (any SEPA country)
  • iDeal (Netherlands)
  • Giropay (Germany)
  • Bancontact (Belgium)
  • EPS (Austria)

Why no credit cards?

There will be the option to pay with your credit card when the ticket sales start, but we don't want to deal with the transaction costs for the gift cards and donations.
