Tickets can now be bought on!

Refund progress

  • Last update: 31.05.2021 21:50
  • All giropay/eps/iDEAL/credit card refunds have been submitted to the payment processor
  • All bank transfer have been sent to the bank for processing
  • 48 orders have not been refunded yet, as we still need your banking information. Please check your mailbox for an email titled "We need help to refund your order!"

What is the status of my refund?

To learn the status of your refund (or refunds if you purchased a gift card and a ticket), please open the order confirmation page and check the order status in the top right corner.

  • paid: We haven't started your refund yet. Please give us a few more days.
  • cancelled: Your order was cancelled in its entirety.
  • Canceled (paid fee): You order was partially canceled - you probably donated some money to us.

In addition to the above described order status, there should also be box right underneath titled Refunds. You might have one or more messages displayed:

  • No refund box: Your order was cancelled and does not require any refunds. You probably donated your whole order.
  • A refund of €XXX,XX has been sent to you. Depending on the payment method, please allow for up to 14 days until it shows up on your statement.: We have sent the refund to our bank/payment provider for processing. The money should be already in your bank account/back on your credit card or arrive there shortly.
  • A refund of €XXX,XX will be sent out to you soon, please be patient.: We have prepared your refund, but it has not yet been sent to the bank. Please give us a few more days.
  • We've issued your refund of €XX,XX as a gift card. On your next purchase with us, you can use the following gift card code during payment: You paid part of your order with a gift card. The code displayed is the one you used. We have returned that money back to the gift card. If you check your gift card order, you should find another notice letting you know that we processed your refund.

If you happen to disagree with any refund, please contact us at with your order number and what you think should be different. We'll take a look at it asap.

What if you have to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 situation?

As you can read in the "Navigating uncharted waters" blog post, we are in unprecedented times and we are doing everything possible to have an awesome event. If we need to cancel the event, you will get a refund of your ticket(s).

What if I want to cancel in other scenarios?

If the event is not cancelled but you want/have to cancel your ticket, for example because of travel restrictions or personal health concerns, we have no one-size-fits-all policy, but contact us so we can see what we can do.

Why are the ticket prices higher than the last CCC camp?

When we were working on the budget, the intention was to have tickets at the same price or at a similar level. Unfortunately we are being faced with significant extra costs and uncertainty due to the COVID-19 situation.

Can I still buy a gift card?

No, gift card sales are closed - but you can now directly buy a ticket!

How do I redeem my gift card?

When progressing to the payment step during the checkout process, you will be able to select "Gift card" as a payment option next to other payment methods like IDEAL, giropay, eps and credit cards. Please make sure to redeem your gift card first before paying any remaining balance with a different payment instrument.

How can I redeem more than one gift card?

Follow the instructions for redeeming a single gift card mentioned above. Once you have redeemed your card, you will be brought back to the very same payment step, allowing you to select "Gift card" as a payment method once again. Do this as often as needed to redeem your gift cards.

Do I have to use all of the money on my gift card in one purchase? What happens to any leftover?

When entering a gift card for redemption, you cannot select a specific amount to be used: The shop will as much as possible to cover your bill. Any remaining balance on the gift card can be used for further purchases.

How long can I redeem my gift cards?

You can redeem your gift card balance up until the day the event starts in the MCH2021 ticket shop.

What is an 'anonymous' donation?

The IFCAT foundation (the legal vehicle for the event) would like to keep the ticket price as low as possible. To that end we asking people that can afford it to give a small donation that we hope will contribute to this cause.

How can I pay?

For gift card sales, we support the following payment methods:

  • Bank transfer (any SEPA country)
  • iDeal (Netherlands)
  • Giropay (Germany)
  • Bancontact (Belgium)
  • EPS (Austria)
  • Credit Card (Worldwide)

Please select the payment method that is most comfortable for you to use. However, if you want to help us save on fees, please consider using SEPA Bank Transfers.

Why no cryptocurrencies?

We do see some advantages of cryptocurrencies and technically we could offer them as a payment option. However we have decided not to enable them at this point due to the administrative complexity they introduce.

What if I want to stay anonymous?

We respect that some participants would like to stay anonymous. In this case we recommend you find someone you trust and have them buy the tickets for you, using an (anonymous) email address during the checkout process. This way it won't even be clear which tickets have been bought anonymously. If this does not work for you, contact Team:Info and we'll try to set something up.

In the future we would also like to encourage hackerspaces to distribute tickets for cash purchase. If your hackerspace wants to participate in this, please get in touch.

Does this mean a voucher system will not be needed for MCH2021?

For SHA2017, we did not use the voucher system. We currently have no intention of using it this time either.

I ordered the wrong size $MerchItem!

As long as you just want to change the size of the product you've ordered, you can do so yourself. Follow the link to your order confirmation - at the bottom of the page you'll find an option to change your order.

In case you want to swap out an item for a different one, please contact us by mail.

Does a gift card guarantee the right to buy a ticket?

Yes, it does. For every gift card that is sold, we have reserved a ticket so you have the right to buy one.

What if I can't afford it right now?

No worries! We understand that a lot of people are in a tricky situation financially right now. Luckily, we don't expect tickets to sell out that fast.

In the worst case you can always contact and we can work something out.

Does this mean a voucher system will not be needed for MCH2021?

For SHA2017, we did not use the voucher system. We currently have no intention of using it this time either.

Are gift cards refundable?

  • Normally, they are not, this is just too much of an administrative burden. You can however sell it to someone else in the community.
  • If the camp can't continue due to the pandemic, all gift cards will be refunded.
  • If the event continues but you can't come, e.g. because of a local lockdown, please talk to us, since we will have to take this on a case-by-case basis.
